Do you find Claude Sonnet 4 worth your shekels? Does its performance at the professional level make it worth the money? I'm hesitant because I got burned before.
Worth every penny. Best AI model that I've used. Using OpenRouter.ai pay as you go. Also on gab but I ran out of credits too quickly. You'll need to learn how to prompt it to get the best results.
William Gibson and the sprawl, where all AI augmentation is done by black surgeons in Chiba. The trope has buried itself deeply in the weeb metaverse that is AI.
And it’s not even realistic. That surname will be headed to extinction in Western countries by 2100.
For Grok, similar deal with Harlan or Elara or Voss — although I’ve recently weaned myself off Grok, except for illustrations.
It’s bad enough that I routinely have to rename characters as they come up — even aside from having to change inappropriately female characters to male.
C’mon Claude, improve and widen your library of stock names. This is ridiculous.
It's likely that the open discrimination against "AI" writing is a pretense to ban / blacklist people who are intelligent.
Okonkwo. I had Claude filling in character names for me & got a Maya Okonkwo. Apparently one of the AI-est names ever.
You use a semicolon; nobody bats an eye.
You use an em dash—everyone loses their minds.
Because the em-dash isn't on the keyboard.
I can type two sentences in the same time it takes to go to the special character selection window, pick, and insert and em-dash.
In casual prose (as opposed to a typeset book), people use the single dash "-" or simulate an em-dash with "--" or "---"
Are this many people using AI to write fiction? I must have my head in the sand.
I asked my friends, Marcus Webb and Patricia Okonkwo about this—they agreed the em-dashes were definitely a problem and need to be dealt with.
But—for now at least—we still have human editors.
It is enough.
It will have to be enough.
Dr. Chen M. Dashes is the final boss of AI prose. You must defeat him to fully master the algorithm.
Claude Sonnet 4 put, not one, but two Sarah Martinez's into my novel. And a Teresa Chen, too.
Going forward, I'm creating a name list.

100 percent.

You mean Sarah Martinez?
No, Sarah Martinez, no relation.

I saw this mentioned before and then experienced it for myself. Now I come ready with my own names ahead of time.
What would Emily Dickinson say?
Dr. Aris Thorne is smart. Ask him.
It’s Claude. 100%.
