Suno’s meteoric rise continues with the company nearly quadrupling its annual recurring revenue to $150 million, according to recent reports from The Information.
Suno is definitely one of the most musically innovative tools out there. The cover feature, as mentioned earlier in this thread, is probably its most useful function for serious songwriters. If you’ve ever wanted to hear what your vocals might sound like in a different style, or even generate an entirely new musical section, it lets you prototype ideas in minutes. Doing this without such technology would be prohibitively costly and time-consuming.
The concern, though, lies in how Suno trained its models. The company claims fair use, similar to how it wouldn’t be right for a music company to sue a new artist for writing a song in the style of another performer, if the result is still a genuinely new composition.
Udio, a major Suno competitor, settled with UMG and prevented all its users from downloading the works they made. Suno may end up following a similar fate if they lose their legal battles.
It is a matter of time before the Suno mobile app replaces Spotify. If I can generate anything I want to listen to on my PC, curate a list from other Suno users, and then listen to it on my phone/truck... what do I need Spotify for?
That’s a very good point. Their CarPlay functionality is nonexistent right now. However, if I could Use a voice assistant feature to even generate stuff using natural language processing, Or to queue up certain styles of music that I want to listen to or even make a whole playlist about stuff that’s going on in the news all of that is relatively easy to accomplish. Imagine hearing today’s news in a bluegrass style or Trap.
Suno is definitely on the forefront of AI music tech. I personally like their cover song feature, it can take a good original composition and make it way better.
This is what annoys me about evaluations. They raised so much money. They're now at a 2 billion dollar evaluation.. what's their profit? or is the payback of debt ever going to be possible.
I started a business in industry with a 100k bank guarantee. I got it profitable in about 2yrs. My friend (came out as Gamma during this ordeal ) who tried to go huge with a crytpo project was the whole time talking about his company is now worth 100 million due to some dudes 50k investment etc.. blah blah.. "dude where's your revenue"?? 5 months of not paying any of his staff but promising them. him his angel investor's. family members. etc all bankrupt.
I write this gamma wall only to point out.. what's the point of this massive growth if we cannot open up the hood and see some numbers. All these start ups are not solid like my business or your Castilla who grew organically. I fear the most epic collapse of evaluations in the history of economics about to hit...

Regardless of commercial possibilities, Suno is worth replacing garbage lyrics with good ones.

Maybe AI will get its own TV show to highlight AI generated music one day. You know, something like “No-Soul Train.”
